Q&A: New to blogging. How can I make sure no one obtains my background images and text?

Question by shewalke: New to blogging. How can I make sure no one obtains my background images and text?
I’m new to blogging and I am using Tumblr. I want to make sure no one obtains my content or background images and pictures. If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Not certain you can protect images etc unless you pay for a service like Digimarc. Text is a big problem. Make certain you have a copyright and year on every page.

  1. RiggsFolly says:

All the text and images you make available on a web site cannot be protected from copying. By virtue of the fact it must be viewable by others means you cannot physically stop people downloading it and stealing it.

For images the only thing that MIGHT and i emphasise might stop people helping themselves is to add a watermark to the images, the text it totally unprotectable.

A Copyright notice informs others you own it and is i believe enforcable in the first world, but not the third world, russia and china, and would of course cost you time and money to police and enforce.

So once its on a web page its all in the wind.

If it is visible on the web, it can be copied. [FULL STOP].
