Question by The Curious One: How do I move my WordPress files locally so I can edit my theme?
I have a WordPress blog up and running (on a non-wordpress server), with PHP and MySQL installed on the server and all the blog posts uploaded through /wp-admin. My question is, how do I install WordPress locally and then move all the files over locally so that I can go ahead and edit the themes?

Use an FTP client and FTP into your server so you can browse the files. Go into wp-content/themes/ folder and you’ll see your theme. Download the entire folder and edit/upload the files as needed.
A good FTP client is filezilla if you dont have one already.
