I want to install wordpress on one domain name but using that same wordpress have a select category come up under a different domain. Is there a way to do this?

In order to achieve this, you would need 2 separate installations of WordPress. To link from one site to the other, you would need to do one of the following:
1. Install the “Page Links To” plugin and point a page to the category url on the other site.
2. Use the WordPress menu system and create a custom menu item that points to the category url on the other site.
That’s it! You’re done!
